This feature allows you to search and propose a possible vacancy for crew members.

Using Propose Vacancy (from the Fleet - Crew Lists screen)
To propose possible vacancies for crew members: 1. From the HR Manager main menu, click Crew Lists under the Fleet menu. 2. The Crew Lists screen will be displayed. Here you can carry out a search for a list of crew onboard a specific vessel and narrow this search based on a specific time period. This helps you to propose a vacancy for a crew member after he has signed off from the vessel. 3. Based on the Vessel selection made, the relevant Manning Schemes will be displayed. Select as required to filter your search. Click Search to retrieve a list of crew based on the criteria you have specified. 4. The list of crew members will be displayed on the screen. Select a crew record for which you want to propose a vacancy. Then, click the Propose Vacancy link.
5. The Propose Vacancy screen will be displayed. The previously selected crew record will be automatically displayed on this screen. The Available From and Available To dates indicate the duration during which the crew member is available to fill a position.
6. You can carry out a search for upcoming vacancies using the Selection Criteria section. Filter your search based on Engine Experience, Vessel Experience, MSM Checking and Pool Code. The Pool Code field allows you to select the vessel pool within which the search will be carried out. Select the appropriate check box to use this filter and use the Lookup function to select the relevant Pool code.
7. Click Search. A list of available vacancies will be displayed. The Vacancy From Date column displays the date when the position will become vacant. 8. Select a crew record in the Selected Crew table and then select a record in the Available Vacancy table. This indicates that you want to plan that the crew member selected in the first table will take over the position selected in the second table when it becomes available. 9. After selecting the record, click Activity. 10. The Activity screen for the crew selected in the Selected Crew table will be displayed. Note that all the details of the upcoming vacancy will be automatically displayed in the crew member's Activity screen. Make any modifications as required and then save the Activity to create it. 11. Repeat the steps above for the remaining crew records in the Selected Crew table of the Propose Vacancy screen.

Using Propose Vacancy (from the Personnel - Crew Search screen)
To propose possible vacancies for crew members: 1. From the HR Manager main menu, click Crew Search under the Personnel menu. 2. The Crew Search screen will be displayed. Carry out a crew search based on Activity dates. To further filter your search, click any of the collapsible panes: 'Profile', 'Qualifications' and 'Experience' to display additional search filter sections. You can proceed to perform a crew search using a combination of the following fields:
Note: The Include check box enables you to include/omit a criteria for the search without having to remove it from the list of criteria you have selected. This would be handy when running multiple searches one after another. Note: If 'Match All' is selected when defining your search filters, the System will only display records that match all search criteria entered. 3. Click Search. 4. The System will run a search based on the search criteria you have entered. The results of the search will be displayed in the bottom half of the screen. Highlight a crew under the search results and click the Propose Vacancy link. Here you can propose a vacancy for the selected crew member who is currently available or is about to be available to fill a position. 5. The Propose Vacancy screen will be displayed. The previously selected crew record will be automatically displayed on this screen.
